About

Blue5GD avatar: a white cube on a ship, in front of a blue light beam.

I'm Micah, a Yale CS + Math student from Louisiana who likes building practical tools. I especially like modeling and simulation, Monte Carlo included.

I'm a Geometry Dash player, which this site makes pretty obvious, and I'm caught up on all 1,200 chapters of One Piece. Did I mention I use Arch?

Projects

Probabilistic Master Scheduler

Aug 2025 – Jan 2026

Generates feasible high school master schedules and predicts how students will actually be placed.

  • 1st Place Mathematics, Louisiana Science and Engineering Fair, plus an Office of Naval Research Special Award.
  • Evaluated on real data from 600+ students and 60+ course offerings.
  • Combines Dirichlet-multinomial demand sampling, Dinic max-flow, and simulated annealing with Monte Carlo simulation.
  • Python
  • Monte Carlo
  • Probabilistic Models
  • Scheduling Algorithms

Flipper Zero Anki Remote

Jun 2025 – Dec 2025

A Flipper Zero app that turns the device into a Bluetooth keyboard for remotely controlling Anki flashcard reviews.

  • 40,000+ downloads on the official Flipper App Catalog.
  • Configurable key mappings and presets saved to the SD card.
  • C
  • Bluetooth Low Energy
  • Embedded Systems

FSRS-5 Desired Retention Adjuster

May 2024 – Jan 2025

Extended FSRS-5, the spaced-repetition algorithm behind Anki, to simulate slower memory decay.

  • 1st Place, Mathematics and Systems Software, Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair.
  • Ran 495 experimental conditions to test whether decay changes can be approximated by adjusting desired retention.
  • Python
  • NumPy
  • Matplotlib

Experience

At Yale

Fall 2026 – Present

  • Building Yale's course exploration platform, which brings together course info, student evaluations, and demand statistics.

Participant

Y/CS Catalyst

Fall 2026

  • Designed and built this portfolio: an Astro site with a hand-written Canvas platformer.

High School

President and Founder

Science Olympiad

Sep 2025 – Feb 2026

  • Founded the school's first full team (15 members) and managed a $1,500 prep budget.
  • Team placed 3rd overall at the inaugural Tulane University Science Olympiad.

Competition Prep Lead

Mu Alpha Theta

Aug 2023 – May 2026

  • Raised $2,000 to send the chapter to its first state convention since 2013.
  • Led review sessions and annotated 40+ practice exams.

President

Chess Club

Aug 2022 – May 2026

  • Doubled membership from 15 to 30 and cut fees from $150 to $5 by restructuring into a student-led club.
  • Built a CustomTkinter app to run in-club tournaments.

Service: 100+ hrs National Honor Society (incl. middle school math tutoring) · 50+ hrs Key Club · 30+ hrs Jefferson Federation of Teachers, organizing ~25 volunteers to pack 10,000+ school supply bags.
